Rates & tiers

Every account begins at the Member rate of 5%. As the bookings you make for friends, family and partners are credited, your rate rises through Silver and Gold to a maximum of 8% at Platinum.

Four tiers, one program

Thresholds are measured in eligible pre-tax room revenue from credited bookings, accumulated over a rolling 12-month period.

Tier Rolling 12-month threshold Your rate How the tier is reached
MemberStarting tier — from account creation5%Applied automatically when an account is created.
Silver$3,000 and up6.5%Reached through credited bookings, or granted for one year through an approved Status Match.
Gold$8,000 and up7.25%Reached through credited bookings.
Platinum$15,000 and up8%The highest tier, reached through credited bookings.

Rates are applied to the eligible pre-tax room revenue of each completed stay. The rate recorded with a booking is the rate in effect at the time that booking is recorded; subsequent tier changes apply to new bookings only. Terms §2.3

Tier protection

Once you reach a higher tier, it is locked for one year. At the end of each lock period, your tier is reassessed against your rolling 12-month total of pre-tax room revenue and may decrease by no more than one tier, after which it locks again. This cycle repeats until your tier is aligned with your current activity. Protection never delays an increase. For example, a Platinum member with no further qualifying stays would return to Member no earlier than the end of the third year. Tier protection does not apply to Status Match rates. Terms §2.5

How your rate works

Three rules govern every amount shown in your account.

The basis — Calculated on credited bookings

Your tier and your earnings are calculated on the pre-tax room revenue of stays that have been completed, accumulated over a rolling 12-month period.

Definition of the calculation basis
Only the room rate is included, before tax. Taxes, resort and destination fees, and incidental charges are excluded. A booking enters the calculation once its commission has been credited, and counts for 12 months from the credit date; bookings credited more than 12 months ago no longer count toward the threshold total.

Terms §2.1

The lock-in — Locked when the booking is recorded

Each booking carries the rate of the tier in effect at the time it is recorded in your account. That rate remains attached to the booking for its settlement.

Effect of a later tier change
If your tier rises after a booking has been recorded, the recorded rate for that booking does not change. Bookings recorded after the change carry the new rate. The rate recorded with each booking is shown on the booking record in your account.

Terms §2.3

The credit — Credited after the hotel pays

Hotels pay commission after checkout, typically within 30 to 90 days. Once the commission has been received and reconciled, your share is credited to your balance at the rate recorded with the booking.

Adjustment to the amount received
Earnings are calculated on commission actually received. If a hotel pays a reduced commission, the credited amount is adjusted in proportion. A booking for which no commission is received does not generate earnings. Cancelled stays and no-shows do not enter the calculation, as they produce no commission.

Terms §5.1

Bookings recorded by forwarded confirmation email earn an email-entry bonus of up to $1.00 each for your first 10 qualifying bookings, paid in addition to your tier rate when the commission settles. Terms §2.6

Status Match

Status Match

If you hold qualifying status with a participating hotel loyalty program, you may apply for a Status Match to begin at the Silver tier. Upon approval, the Silver rate (6.5%) applies to bookings recorded during the one-year period following the date of approval. Completed stays during that year continue to accumulate toward the standard tiers.

Rates and tiers, in detail

The rules that determine your rate, stated in full.

How is my rolling 12-month total calculated?
Your rolling total is the sum of eligible pre-tax room revenue from bookings whose commission has been credited to your account. A booking is included once its commission is credited — not at check-out — and counts for twelve months from the credit date. Taxes, fees, and incidental charges are excluded. As the twelve-month window advances, bookings credited more than twelve months ago cease to count toward the total. Terms §2.1
When does a higher tier take effect?
A higher tier takes effect from the point at which your rolling twelve-month total reaches the applicable threshold. Bookings recorded from that point onward carry the new rate. Earlier bookings retain the rate recorded at the time they were entered. Terms §2.1
Which rate applies if my tier changes between booking and checkout?
The rate that applies is the one recorded with the booking when it was entered. Tier changes in either direction — whether an increase or a decrease — affect only bookings recorded after the change. Terms §2.3
What happens if a hotel pays a reduced commission, or no commission?
Earnings are based on the commission actually received. If the hotel pays a reduced commission, the credit to your account is proportionally reduced. If no commission is received, no earnings are credited. Whether a given rate is commissionable is determined by the hotel under its own policies. Terms §5.1
Can my tier go down?
Yes. Your tier follows your rolling twelve-month total of pre-tax room revenue. However, tier protection ensures that any tier reached is locked for one year and, upon reassessment, may fall by no more than one tier per year. Full provisions are set out in the Program Terms. Terms §2.5
Is there a bonus for entering bookings by email?
Yes. Bookings recorded by forwarded confirmation email earn an email-entry bonus of up to $1.00 each for your first 10 qualifying bookings, paid in addition to your tier rate when the commission settles. A booking qualifies when its confirmation email comes from an address bound to your account and matches the booking. A booking you first entered manually can still qualify if its confirmation email arrives before the booking is settled; only the first match counts. Terms §2.6
